Cleanup Day WOW!
Where to start? Well first, let’s talk about how much trash we took out of Wildewood. Last year, we started with a 30 cubic yard dumpster, filled that up, got a quick delivery of a 20 yard, and we thought that was a success.
This year, through a series of strange accidents, we ended up with ONE HUNDRED and FORTY cubic yards of dumpster space and guess what? We filled them up! The photo above shows just 3 of our 7 dumpsters waiting to be picked up. And 4 pickup loads of metal to recycle as well as major appliances that were picked up after the fact because we didn’t have room for them on cleanup day.
Second, let’s talk about all the great volunteers we had. As well as getting items disposed of, we took advantage of volunteer help to spruce up the Wildewood common areas.
There are too many people to name for fear of leaving someone out, but from everyone in the Community, a huge THANK YOU for all your hard work.
The community center is sparkling clean inside and out, see the photo above. The entire boat ramp area got a face lift. The entire playground area was raked. We had a couple of crews of hard workers out there picking up items for the dumpsters for those who were not able to bring it themselves, or had to work that day. That’s a thankless job, picking up other people’s unwanted items, so again, Thanks!
And our equally hard-working crew getting all the people checked in, the metal sorted out and the other items directed to the dumpsters kept everything running smoothly. Not to mention our two metal scrappers who broke down everything they could to fit in their trucks and made multiple runs to dispose of them. This is just another great example of how the great people in Wildewood can come together to make a difference!
It’s that time of year again! WOA’s annual election is held the first Saturday in June and the nominating committee is working on putting together the list of candidates. If you would like to run, or know someone else who would be interested in serving on the board, please contact the board using the Email Us form on the home page of this site. Deadline is May 1, 2021.
The 2021 Annual membership meeting and election will be held Saturday June 5 at 11 AM at the community center. More details will be provided when the ballots are mailed. We hope to see everyone there!
Memorial Day is very late this year, May 31. To allow everyone to enjoy the pool a little earlier, it will be open Saturday May 22 and Sunday May 23 just for the weekend. Regular hours and days will begin Saturday May 29 (Memorial Day weekend). Information about picking up pool keys will be provided in the mailing that is sent for the election in early May. You will need a new key; last year’s keys will not work. Senior Hour from 10-11 will be observed Tuesday through Friday. There have been some mentions of seniors getting together to swim, walk or do water aerobics. If you are interested in participating, let a board member know and we can help you contact others that are interested.
Online Payments
Online payments are now available. Please contact the board for instructions. If paying via an e-Check by entering bank routing and account number, the service has a $.45 convenience fee. If paying via credit card or debit card, the fee will be $.30 plus 3.5% of the transaction. This would add $3.24 to a payment for a single lot of $84.00 for a total of $87.24. The convenience fee is charged by the site and the credit card companies, not by WOA.
